News >> Mobile Crusher
In 2003 the Burnsville Quarry added a specially customized track-mounted mobile crusher which is connected to 4,000 feet of conveyor. The mobile crusher moves from shot to shot in the bottom of the quarry and crushes the shot rock before it is conveyed to a 30,000-ton live surge pile. The live surge pile provides a steady flow of material on a stationary conveyor 3,000 feet up to the main crushing plant on the top level of the quarry for finishing.
It is the first multi-bench system of its size to be installed in the U.S. The system allows crushing to be done at the face, and creates a more efficient and cost effective method for transporting material. Cutting back on truck transport has reduced both dust emissions and haul-road maintenance, and the elimination of cross-quarry traffic has helped to minimize safety risks.
